Fendi Pays Tribute to Karl Lagerfeld with Two Commemorative Shows

Fendi has recently announced plans to pay tribute to the legendary Karl Lagerfeld with not just one, but two commemorative shows. After the initial reveal by Fendi’s owner, Bernard Arnault, of a show in Rome this summer, the fashion house surprised the world with news of a second show in Shanghai on May 31, 2019, at the prestigious Powerlong Museum.

The decision to host the show in Shanghai holds special significance, as Fendi and China have a long history together, starting with the iconic Great Wall show in 2007. CEO Serge Brunschwig expressed the house’s deep pride in honoring Lagerfeld in a country renowned for its magic and allure, making it a truly fitting location to showcase Karl Lagerfeld’s lasting impact on the fashion world.

The joint men’s and women’s runway show will highlight Lagerfeld’s exceptional creativity and his remarkable 54-year tenure at Fendi, the longest-standing partnership in the history of fashion. Lagerfeld’s recent collaboration on the Fall/Winter 2019 menswear collection further solidified his influence and unique design perspective at the fashion house.

In addition to the Shanghai show, Fendi will also host a tribute in Rome on July 4 to commemorate Lagerfeld’s outstanding work and legacy at the fashion house. Lagerfeld’s absence has undoubtedly left a void in the industry, and Fendi has yet to name a successor to carry on his groundbreaking vision and design aesthetic.

By organizing these tribute shows, Fendi aims to not only honor Lagerfeld’s unparalleled talent but also to celebrate the enduring bond between the fashion house and the iconic designer’s legacy. The upcoming shows are anticipated to be a moving tribute to Lagerfeld’s extraordinary contributions to the fashion world, ensuring that his visionary spirit lives on.
