Italian luxury brand FENDI is taking steps to boost its presence in the design market with the launch of a joint venture called FF Design. The decision comes as a response to the recent lockdowns and social distancing measures, which may have sparked FENDI’s interest in design, architecture, and interior decoration. The joint venture is a collaboration between FENDI and Design Holding, which is controlled by investment funds Investindustrial and Carlyle Group. According to a press release, Design Holding will have the majority stake in the venture, while Alberto Da Passano, former President of FENDI Europe and Middle East, will take on the role of CEO from July 1st.
FF Design, under the creative direction of Silvia Venturini Fendi, aims to support the growth and global expansion of FENDI Casa Collections. Alongside being available in FENDI’s existing store network, this section will also have dedicated boutiques where customers can access personalized interior design services, similar to what is offered by Armani Casa.
“FENDI was a pioneer in the fashion industry’s foray into the design world in 1987 with the FENDI Casa Collection, and we are thrilled to enter a new era for our brand,” says Serge Brunschwig, Chairman and CEO of FENDI. He emphasizes the brand’s commitment to the “Made in Italy” values and craftsmanship that have long been synonymous with FENDI.
