Fendi Celebrates 90th Anniversary with ‘Haute Fourrure’ Collection

In celebration of its 90th anniversary, luxury fashion house Fendi is set to showcase its “Haute Fourrure” collection on July 7, 2016. Under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld, the event will be held in Rome, the birthplace of the Italian label. While other fashion brands, such as Giorgio Armani, have decided to permanently abandon the use of fur, Fendi continues to embrace its attraction to animal skins.

The brand has always been known for its sophisticated and glamorous ready-to-wear collections and accessories. Founded in 1925 by Adele and Eduardo Fendi, the Roman couple gained recognition for their fur and leather goods in the 1940s. After the war, their five daughters transformed the small boutique into a global fashion destination. In 1965, they took a chance on a young stylist named Karl Lagerfeld, who later revolutionized the fur industry and created the iconic reversed double F logo for Fendi. The launch of Fendi’s haute couture fur collection in 1966 further solidified the brand’s success.

Over the years, Fendi expanded its offerings to include shoes, watches, perfumes, eyewear, and scarves for both men and women. One of its most iconic creations is the Baguette Bag, designed by Silvia Fendi in 1997, which gained significant popularity after being featured on the TV series Sex and the City.

Today, Fendi has become a global brand with 160 boutiques in 25 countries. Its loyal clientele is drawn to the chic and glamorous spirit of the brand, and its emblematic fur continues to attract attention worldwide. Despite the changing trends in the fashion industry, Fendi remains committed to its heritage and the use of fur.
