Fendi Announces Exciting Collaborations with FRGMT and Pokémon

Fendi, the renowned luxury brand, has recently announced two exciting collaborations as part of their Friends of Fendi series. These collaborations involve partnering with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment and Pokémon to create innovative collections. In addition to these partnerships, Fendi has also opened a pop-up store at Selfridges, which will be available until January 27th, to showcase these new collections.

The decision to collaborate with Hiroshi Fujiwara, a prominent figure in the Japanese club and streetwear scene, was a natural one for Fendi. Kim Jones, Fendi’s Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, expressed his admiration for Fujiwara, stating that he considers him one of his idols. This collaboration serves as a tribute to Japanese culture, which has greatly influenced Jones and his work.

Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, explained that Fendi’s bag shapes are iconic and representative of the brand. However, they are always open to reinterpreting and celebrating these designs in new ways. Venturini Fendi stated that Hiroshi Fujiwara has transformed their handbags into “mini pop monuments” through his FRGMT and Pokémon collaborations.

The Fendi x FRGMT collection features the iconic FF jacquard logo in brown and tobacco shades, as well as a striking yellow version. Fujiwara has applied the disrupted FF Fragment on various Fendi bags, including the Peekaboo ISeeU Small, Baguette women’s bags, and mini pieces like the Baguette Pouch and Mini Mon Trésor. The collection also includes a foldable Baguette shopper and a soft hobo bag, adding versatility to the lineup. For men, there are messenger bags and belt bags that utilize the FRGMT disruption with vibrant yellow contrast zips. To complete the collection, there is a unisex white t-shirt featuring a special Fendi x FRGMT logo.

The collaboration between Fendi and FRGMT also includes Pokémon. This particular collection celebrates the year of the Dragon, with the dragon-type Pokémon being the focal point of the collaboration. The Peekaboo and Baguette bags, available for both men and women, showcase inlays and prints of the Dragonite and Dratini Pokémon on FF jacquard and FF canvas backings. Additionally, the collection features playful new Baguette and Mini Baguette bags in cute nano sizes, as well as a special Baguette with micro beads FF embroidery and fringes. To add a touch of charm, the collection includes accessories such as Dragonite key charms and textile accessories. The lineup is further expanded with jewelry, t-shirts, hoodies, and silk FF pyjamas.

Apart from the fashion offerings, the Fendi x FRGMT x Pokémon collaboration also includes a partnership with the popular mobile game Pokémon GO. Players can now obtain digital avatar items that feature designs from this collection, adding a unique virtual element to the collaboration.

In summary, the Fendi x FRGMT and Fendi x FRGMT x Pokémon collaborations bring together the worlds of luxury fashion, streetwear, and pop culture. These collections showcase Fendi’s commitment to embracing new and exciting collaborations while staying true to the brand’s iconic designs and craftsmanship. With the addition of the Selfridges pop-up store and the partnership with Pokémon GO, Fendi is reaching a wider audience and further establishing its presence in the fashion industry.
