Fashion Trust U.S. Announces Inaugural Board Members

Fashion Trust U.S., a non-profit initiative dedicated to discovering and nurturing young design talent, has announced its inaugural board members. This esteemed panel of industry leaders includes Laura Brown, former editor-in-chief of InStyle, media personality Tan France, Samira Nasr, editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar, celebrity stylist Karla Welch, and philanthropist Francesca Dutton, who will serve as director.

The launch of Fashion Trust U.S. marks an exciting opportunity to support and celebrate the diversity, talent, and culture of American design. U.S.-based designers who have been in business for at least three years are encouraged to apply for this prestigious program.

Originally launched in the U.K. in 2011, Fashion Trust expanded to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in 2018, providing invaluable support to emerging designers in those areas. Following a thorough review process by the board members, the winners and grants will be announced at the highly anticipated Fashion Trust U.S. Awards in early 2023.

Winners of the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards will receive financial grants and mentorship covering various aspects of their business, such as budgeting, strategy, digital presence, merchandising, and overall business support. This comprehensive approach ensures that designers not only receive financial assistance but also gain valuable insights and guidance to help them thrive in the competitive fashion industry.

Since its inception, Fashion Trust has garnered the support of 145 donors and raised over £3.5 million, providing significant financial assistance to 39 designers. This track record of success showcases the trust’s dedication to fostering emerging talent and propelling them towards long-term success.

Board member Tan France expressed his pride in joining Fashion Trust U.S., acknowledging the incredible work the trust has done in supporting designers in the U.K. and the Middle East. He emphasizes the importance of championing designers who may not otherwise have had such opportunities, highlighting the potential for Fashion Trust U.S. to make a meaningful impact on American design.

Samira Nasr also shared her gratitude for Tania Fares, the co-founder of Fashion Trust, for bringing the initiative to the U.S. She recognizes the immense value it will bring to young American designers by providing support for their businesses and helping them shine both domestically and internationally. The establishment of Fashion Trust U.S. is a significant step towards fostering and promoting talent in the American fashion industry.
