Fashion Industry Surge in the UK

The fashion industry in the UK has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity over the past decade, with street fashion and luxury brands capturing the attention of consumers. A recent study conducted by UK-based menswear e-tailer Standout has shed light on the significant increase in Google searches for various fashion brands in the region.

Leading the pack in the Google search surge are renowned brands such as Michael Kors, Moncler, Balenciaga, and Canada Goose. These brands have witnessed a surge in search interest, reflecting the changing preferences of UK consumers. While Michael Kors and Moncler have historically dominated the search rankings, newer brands have emerged to challenge them for the fastest growth rate in searches.

Michael Kors, in particular, has seen an impressive 1,800% increase in search activity over the past decade. Although the brand peaked in 2014 with its ‘affordable luxury’ handbags, it continues to remain popular among fashion enthusiasts. Moncler, known for its high-end outerwear, has also experienced a significant 1,100% surge in searches, with recent attention drawn to its Moncler Genius initiative.

Balenciaga, currently at its peak, has seen a 1,000% increase in search activity, thanks to its iconic Triple S Sneakers and Speed Stretch-Knit High-Top Sneakers. Influencers and fashion-forward individuals have contributed to the brand’s rise in popularity. Canada Goose, with a 900% surge in searches, has benefited from its flagship store opening in London’s Regent Street, solidifying its reputation for quality down-filled coats.

Other notable brands that have seen a rise in search interest in the UK include Tommy Hilfiger, Fila, Champion, Skechers, Under Armour, and Dr. Martens. Collaborations with celebrities and influencers have contributed to the increased search activity for these brands. Versace, Vans, New Balance, Stone Island, Barbour, Hugo Boss, Superdry, Calvin Klein, Louboutin, and Ted Baker have also experienced a boost in search popularity.

Noteworthy mentions in the top 30 list include Gucci and Alexander McQueen, with Gucci seeing a rise of 231.32% and Alexander McQueen peaking this year with a 250% increase in search activity. The evolving landscape of the fashion industry in the UK is evident in the growing popularity of these brands and their influence on consumer trends.
