Fashion Designer Zac Posen Announces Closure of Eponymous Label

Fashion designer Zac Posen has announced the heartbreaking decision to close his eponymous label, attributing the challenging fashion and retail landscape as the main factor behind this move. According to reports, the label was in the midst of being acquired when the unexpected shutdown took place. Posen’s management team had been working diligently to navigate the obstacles faced by the fashion industry, but unfortunately, their efforts were not successful.

In a statement released recently, Posen conveyed his disappointment, expressing, “We are disappointed that despite our best efforts, we were unable to overcome the challenges and are deeply saddened that this nearly 20-year journey has come to an end.” The acclaimed designer, known for dressing A-list celebrities such as Rihanna, Michelle Obama, and Gwyneth Paltrow, launched his namesake brand in 2001 when he was just 20 years old. Despite his numerous accomplishments, including winning the CFDA’s womenswear designer of the year award in 2004, the closure means that the Zac Posen spring/summer 2020 collection will not be available for purchase.

Taking to social media platform Instagram, Posen expressed his gratitude towards his team for their unwavering support and dedication over the years. He praised their talent and commitment, acknowledging, “I owe a great deal of gratitude for their unwavering support for and dedication to the company. I am grateful to the team who lent their incomparable talent and commitment along the way. I remain incredibly proud of what we created and hopeful for the future.”

Despite the shuttering of his label, Posen will continue in his role as the creative director of Brooks Brothers’ women’s collections, a position he has held since 2014. The fashion community will certainly miss the ingenuity and creativity that Zac Posen brought to the industry for almost two decades.
