Fashion Brands Celebrate Pride Month with Special Collections and Initiatives

Fashion brands are showing their support for the LGBTQIA+ community by launching special collections and initiatives to celebrate Pride Month. Major brands such as Michael Kors, Versace, The North Face, Cos, and &Other Stories are joining forces to promote inclusivity and diversity through colorful projects.

Luxury fashion house Michael Kors has released its Pride 2022 capsule collection, featuring 16 pieces for both men and women. The collection includes clothing, shoes, and accessories, with standout items like a rainbow-colored tote bag and purse adorned with the MK logo. Sales of these limited edition pieces will benefit OutRight Action International, a organization dedicated to advancing LGBTQIA+ rights.

Versace, owned by Capri Holdings, is making a significant contribution of $10 million to the Versace Foundation for Pride Month. The donation will support projects that promote equality and the well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community. Versace has a history of creating apparel collections with proceeds donated to charitable organizations, and the brand’s creative director, Donatella Versace, expressed her pride in the brand’s inclusivity.

The North Face, a popular sports equipment brand, is collaborating with four groups across Europe to encourage inclusiveness in outdoor activities. The brand has provided €10,000 to each collective, enabling them to organize events such as “Pride hikes.” Partnering with organizations like Le Gloss in France and OutdoorLads in the UK, The North Face aims to create safe spaces and group activities for individuals who identify as gay, transgender, and bisexual. The brand has also launched its own Pride collection, featuring clothing items adorned with their iconic logo and rainbow flag.

Minimalist label COS, part of the H&M group, is celebrating Pride Month for the third year in a row. Collaborating with influential personalities from the LGBTQIA+ community, COS has unveiled its “Love for All” collection. With four unique designs, including T-shirts and a sweatshirt, the collection emphasizes love, individuality, and self-expression. All proceeds from the limited edition items will be donated to the Kaleidoscope Trust and Choose Love, two organizations advocating for LGBTIA+ rights and assisting refugees.

Additionally, &Other Stories, another brand under the H&M group, will be hosting LGBTQIA+ artists in their stores in several major cities to celebrate Pride Month. With events taking place in Paris, New York, London, Berlin, and Stockholm throughout the summer, &Other Stories aims to showcase the unique perspectives on style and identity of these creatives. The brand will also be making donations to the UN’s “Free & Equal” campaign, which works towards human rights and equality for the LGBTIQIA+ community.

These fashion collections and initiatives highlight the industry’s dedication to inclusivity, diversity, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. By using their platforms and donating proceeds to charitable organizations, fashion brands are actively contributing to the fight for equality and the well-being of marginalized communities.
