Fashion brand Khaite partners with Stripes for expansion

Fashion brand Khaite has rapidly gained popularity since its founding in 2016 by Catherine Holstein. The New York label is making waves in the United States and is now expanding its business by partnering with Stripes, a private equity firm also based in New York.

Catherine Holstein was recently awarded the title of “Women’s Ready-to-Wear Designer of the Year” at the prestigious CFDA Awards 2022. This recognition is a testament to Khaite’s growing influence in the fashion industry. To further solidify its place in the market, Khaite has opened its first flagship store in Soho, New York.

While Khaite has been supported by its majority shareholder, Assembled Brands, a brand incubator founded by Adam Pritzker and Vanessa Traina, the brand is thrilled to welcome Stripes as its new investor. The exact amount of the investment remains undisclosed, but Khaite is listed as one of Stripes’ investments for 2023. Stripes specializes in software and consumer goods labels and already holds a portfolio of fashion brands, including Brunt, On Running, and Parade.

Within just a few years, Khaite has become one of the most exciting brands to emerge from the New York fashion scene. Catherine Holstein, drawing from her experience at renowned fashion houses such as Gap, Vera Wang, J. Crew, Maiyet, and The Elder Statesman, has captured the attention of audiences with her minimalist and elegant style. Her designs effortlessly transform basics and classics into impeccably cut pieces with a nonchalant flair.

Khaite’s designs, including ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories, have quickly gained a cult following. The brand’s cashmere cardigans and Japanese canvas jeans, in particular, have received widespread attention and praise. Khaite has attracted a wealthy clientele in New York, which includes notable celebrities like Katie Holmes and Kendall Jenner.

The success of Khaite is indisputable, as it is currently valued at over $100 million (€94 million) according to reports from the American press. With the new partnership with Stripes and its ambitious expansion plans, Khaite is well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory in the fashion industry.
