Fashion and Luxury Brands Find New Playground at Venice Biennale

The fashion and luxury industries have discovered a new playground in Venice, specifically at the Art Biennale. This significant international art exhibition, which will be running until November 27, has attracted major fashion houses and brands like never before. These industry leaders have recognized the importance of art in fashion and have established their own foundations, such as the Pinault Foundation and the Prada Foundation, both located in Venice.

One notable exhibition at the Prada Foundation is ‘Human Brains: It Begins With An Idea’, which explores the different dimensions of the brain. Additionally, Bottega Veneta, owned by Kering, has joined the Pinault collection and is sponsoring performances by renowned choreographers, drawing inspiration from the exhibition ‘Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies’. The label’s creative director, Matthieu Blazy, has even designed the costumes for the dancers. Bottega Veneta has also collaborated with German artist Katharina Grosse, resulting in a collection of bags inspired by Olivetti typewriters.

LVMH’s well-known brands, Dior and Louis Vuitton, are also leaving their mark at the Venice Biennale. Dior has partnered with the Venetian Heritage Foundation, organizing an evening to raise funds for the restoration of the Ca’ d’Oro palace and for Ukrainian refugees living in Italy. Louis Vuitton, on the other hand, held a fundraising gala dinner dedicated to the preservation of a historic palace in Venice. Chanel, following suit, brought together the winners of its Chanel Next Prize for a special event in Venice.

It is not just the major fashion houses that are showing support for cultural projects. Diesel, for example, sponsored the ‘AllTogether’ exhibition, which featured the Foundation Tom of Finland collection. Additionally, Italian brand Drome collaborated with French artist Pauline Curnier Jardin and inmates from Venice’s women’s prison to create a community installation.

These initiatives undoubtedly demonstrate the fashion and luxury industries’ dedication to major international art events. By participating, these brands are able to refine their image as patrons of the arts and supporters of cultural heritage. The Venice Biennale provides an ideal platform for fashion and luxury brands to engage with art and showcase their creativity.
