Farfetch Launches Beat Concept with Opening Ceremony and Peter Do Collaboration

Farfetch, the leading luxury e-commerce platform, has launched its new Beat concept, a series of exclusive collaborations and product experiences with progressive voices in fashion and culture. To kick off this concept, Farfetch has partnered with fashion designer Peter Do and iconic brand Opening Ceremony to celebrate Opening Ceremony’s 20th anniversary.

The Beat concept, available exclusively on the Farfetch website, demonstrates the platform’s ability to offer customers access to luxury products, brands, services, and a community of esteemed curators that cannot be found anywhere else in the luxury fashion industry. Holli Rogers, Chief Brand Officer of Farfetch, explained that the company had developed the Beat idea prior to the pandemic, emphasizing its relevance even in today’s challenging times. The collaboration with Opening Ceremony and Peter Do perfectly represents the desire for exclusive pieces with unique stories behind them, fulfilling customers’ longing for rare finds that they can treasure for years to come.

Opening Ceremony and Peter Do are known for their contributions to fashion and their ability to drive impactful conversations within the industry. The collaboration has resulted in a collection that showcases three different interpretations of the OC varsity jacket, including two crafted in Do’s innovative ‘spacer’ material and a third made from upcycled parachute material used in Do’s first runway show. Each piece is numbered to highlight its limited quantity and comes with a cardholder concealed in the jacket pocket. The jackets are presented in a one-of-a-kind Opening Ceremony x Peter Do cotton muslin tote bag.

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, co-founders and creative directors of Opening Ceremony, expressed their excitement about bringing their pioneering concept retail approach to the online realm through Farfetch Beat. They described Peter Do as the epitome of the best in New York fashion today and highlighted the similarities in their shared Asian heritage, which influences their creative processes. Leon and Lim commended the incredible design skills and knowledge of the Peter Do team, emphasizing how inspiring they are.

Accompanying the collaboration is a captivating portrait series, shot by photographer Katsu Naito, which brings together the teams, friends, and collaborators of both brands in a modern ‘family portrait’. The cast includes Humberto Leon, Carol Lim, Peter Do, Christine Sun Kim, Maia Ruth Lee, Jawara Wauchoupe, Angela Dimayuga, Alan Kim, and others.

Farfetch’s Beat concept, with its first collaboration between Peter Do, Opening Ceremony, and the platform itself, demonstrates the company’s dedication to providing exclusive and innovative experiences to its global luxury customer base. By curating unique collaborations with influential figures in the fashion and cultural spheres, Farfetch solidifies its position as a leader in luxury e-commerce.
