Experience Luxury and History at Salon du Luxe Paris

On July 9th, the Salon du Luxe Paris will be held at the historic Salle Wagram for the first time. This iconic venue is known for its unique and pioneering nature, captivating visitors with its exquisite features. With a rich history that spans over 150 years, the Salle Wagram never fails to fascinate and enchant guests with its sparkling chandeliers, grand parquet floor, and stunning décor of paintings. The cardinal red baseboards add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the space.

Originally established in 1865 on the grounds of a guinguette, an outdoor café, the Salle Wagram was initially renowned for hosting extravagant soirées during the Third Empire. These lavish events quickly gained popularity, attracting the most influential figures in Parisian society. With a capacity of 1300 people in cocktail format, the venue did not have a traditional stage or fixed seating rows, as it was primarily used for extravagant balls.

During the first half of the 20th century, the Salle Wagram played a significant role in hosting major political, cultural, and sports events. Even in the midst of World War II, the venue managed to thrive by hosting illustrious boxing and wrestling matches, featuring acclaimed athletes such as Marcel Cerdan and Lino Ventura. Renowned musicians, including Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington, and the legendary Maria Callas, also chose the Salle Wagram as a recording location. To this day, the voice of Maria Callas can still be heard reverberating under the hall’s gilded ceilings as she recorded iconic operas like La Tosca and Carmen in the mid-1960s. The venue has also served as a backdrop for numerous films by directors such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Bertrand Blier, Jean-Jacques Annaud, and Claude Lelouch.

Designed by Adrien Alfonse Fleuret, the creator of the Théâtre Marigny, the Salle Wagram was classified as a Historical Monument in 1981. In 2005, the adjacent Théâtre de l’Empire suffered significant damage from an explosion caused by a boiler. This event marked a new era of restoration for the venue. Under the guidance of architect Christian de Portzamparc, the hall was painstakingly restored to its former glory, reopening in April 2009. The restoration process adhered to the strict guidelines set for Historical Monuments, resulting in the careful redesign of non-original chandeliers and the rediscovery of a forgotten fresco in the entrance hall. The venue also underwent modernization, including the addition of air conditioning, electrical and scenic system upgrades, and compliance with accessibility and safety standards. Additionally, fiber optic internet access and WiFi terminals were installed to accommodate bandwidth-intensive events.

Since becoming a member of the Chateauform’ network in 2017, specializing in corporate event organization, the Salle Wagram has also been committed to upholding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) principles. This includes initiatives such as equipping 90% of its lighting with energy-efficient LED fixtures, implementing recycling and waste reduction strategies, and prioritizing employee training and development.

In 2018 alone, the Salle Wagram successfully hosted over 130 corporate events, 40 private celebrations, and nearly 20 concerts by the Orchestre Colonne, extending their residency this year. The venue has become a sought-after destination for professionals and individuals alike, thanks to its grandeur, personalized service, and unwavering commitment to excellence, all of which are hallmarks of Chateauform’.

Having recently welcomed Haute Couture fashion shows, the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Handicrafts, and high-profile advertising campaigns featuring celebrities like Neymar and Kaia Gerber, the Salle Wagram is now gearing up to host the Salon du Luxe Paris. This event perfectly aligns with the venue’s heritage and values, as it embodies the craftsmanship, elegance, and savoir-faire that the Salle Wagram represents.
