Etro Appoints Marco De Vincenzo as Creative Director

Etro, the renowned Italian luxury fashion label, has recently announced the appointment of Marco De Vincenzo as its new creative director. The decision comes as Etro seeks to fortify its brand identity and prioritize its accessory line. De Vincenzo, an alumnus of the prestigious European Institute of Design in Rome, brings with him a wealth of experience in the fashion industry, having previously worked at Fendi on their accessory collection. Moreover, he successfully launched his own women’s ready-to-wear label in 2009, which gained recognition through the esteemed Who Is On Next? prize organized by Altaroma and Vogue Italia.

In his new role, De Vincenzo will assume responsibility for the creative direction of Etro’s women’s, men’s, and home collections. Fashion enthusiasts can anticipate his debut collection during Milan Fashion Week in September 2023. Fabrizio Cardinali, the CEO of Etro, expressed his enthusiasm for De Vincenzo’s appointment and commended his exceptional talent for working with color, print, and fabrics. Cardinali believes that De Vincenzo will successfully merge the brand’s rich heritage with a fresh perspective, revitalizing the accessories department.

Accessories play a pivotal role in the profitability of luxury brands due to their higher profit margins. By intensifying their focus on accessories, Etro aims to augment its profitability and solidify its standing in the luxury fashion market. The arrival of De Vincenzo at Etro aligns with a broader strategic approach, including recent key appointments in senior positions. Iacopo Martini has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer, while Alberto Candellero has been named as the Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer.

Established in 1968 by Gerolamo Etro, the renowned fashion house presently operates approximately 140 stores across 58 countries, alongside 20 travel retail locations. Despite the challenges faced by the brand’s retail outlets in recent years due to the pandemic, the company predicts a resurgence in the post-pandemic era as the world gradually returns to a state of normalcy. With the accessory strategy playing a pivotal role in the brand’s future, the travel retail locations are expected to significantly influence Etro’s overall store lineup and overall success.
