EssilorLuxottica Expands Portfolio with New Partnership with Brunello Cucinelli

EssilorLuxottica, the Franco-Italian multinational corporation, has further expanded its portfolio of licenses by securing a new partnership with luxury brand Brunello Cucinelli. The collaboration between the two entities began in 2021 when they worked together on a capsule collection of sunglasses under the Oliver Peoples brand. Now, they have entered into a ten-year licensing agreement, effective from January 1, 2023, until December 31, 2032, for the design, manufacturing, and distribution of prescription frames and sunglasses under the Brunello Cucinelli label.

This agreement marks a significant milestone for both parties, as it allows EssilorLuxottica to strengthen its position in the luxury eyewear market while enabling Brunello Cucinelli to expand its product offering. By joining the ranks of other prestigious brands in the EssilorLuxottica license portfolio, such as Prada, Ralph Lauren, and Burberry, Brunello Cucinelli aims to reach a wider audience and capitalize on the expertise and distribution channels of its partner.

The first collection under this new collaboration is set to launch in early 2024, and it is expected to showcase the impeccable craftsmanship and timeless style that Brunello Cucinelli is known for. Customers can anticipate a range of prescription frames and sunglasses that exude contemporary Italian elegance, reflecting the luxury lifestyle brand’s aesthetic.

In addition to the commercial aspect of this partnership, Brunello Cucinelli has emphasized the sentimental significance of the collaboration. The executive chairman and creative director of the house, Brunello Cucinelli himself, expressed his deep attachment to Leonardo Del Vecchio, the founder of Luxottica, and how his inspiration fueled their commitment to investing in their own factory in Solomeo. This personal connection further reinforces the confidence and optimism surrounding the agreement, as it paves the way for future generations to develop and nurture the partnership.

Francesco Milleri, CEO of EssilorLuxottica, is equally enthusiastic about the continued partnership with Brunello Cucinelli. He hails the luxury brand as an embodiment of contemporary Italian style and glamour, making it an ideal addition to the EssilorLuxottica family.

This recent collaboration between two industry giants mirrors another significant acquisition agreement. Just a few days ago, Estée Lauder Companies announced its acquisition of fashion house Tom Ford, in which Ermenegildo Zegna Group and Marcolin SpA will respectively produce the fashion and eyewear lines under license. These developments further showcase the dynamism and strategic partnerships within the luxury fashion and eyewear industries, creating new opportunities for growth and innovation.
