Ermenegildo Zegna XXX: Emerging from Lockdown into a Style Oasis

The latest collection from Ermenegildo Zegna on Friday afternoon was a harmonious blend of man, machine, and nature in what can only be described as a cohesive and stylish “phygital” presentation. Through a combination of web streaming, elegant videos, live slow-motion shots, and intricate detailing, the collection delivered a powerful message of optimism and innovation during these challenging times.

The show began at the company’s plant in Trivero, where the camera effortlessly weaved through looms and gracefully transitioned into a lush, mature wood before finally settling on a serene garden. The camera then followed the models as they walked confidently over the hill, showcasing 42 looks from the spring-summer 2021 collection of Ermenegildo Zegna XXX.

“We wanted to create a full collection that truly represents what Zegna stands for – nature, humanity, men, machine, and technology,” explained the house’s creative director, Alessandro Sartori. This year marks the 110th anniversary of the company, and Sartori wanted to pay homage to these values in a fresh and innovative manner.

The collection featured flawlessly tailored suits, elegant dusters, and statement parkas and cabans made from recycled double-face wools. The emphasis on patch pockets and noble finishing touches added a luxurious touch to the garments. The use of microfibers, silk, and mohair showcased the house’s commitment to using innovative and sustainable fabrics.

The show culminated in a sunset stroll through a picturesque forest, highlighting the timeless elegance and sophistication of the collection. With a mix of contemporary menswear pieces, such as cricket blazers and blotchy print shirts, Ermenegildo Zegna showcased a modern yet refined aesthetic for the upcoming season.

The collection will be available in stores in January, with the pre-collection already on display in showrooms. In an effort to accommodate clients who are unable to travel to Milan, the house has also provided a comprehensive photo catalog of the collection. Despite current challenges, Zegna remains hopeful that a significant portion of their clients will be able to visit Milan this summer.

In a thoughtful gesture, actor Parker Sawyers, dressed impeccably in a Zegna tuxedo, extended a personal invitation to view the collection online. This inclusive approach, combined with the brand’s commitment to diversity and representation (illustrated by their ambassador Mahershala Ali), reinforces Ermenegildo Zegna’s reputation as a forward-thinking and inclusive fashion house.
