Ennio Fontana appointed as the new managing director of Dsquared2

Ennio Fontana, an experienced and accomplished professional in the fashion industry, has been chosen as the new managing director of Dsquared2. Fontana will officially begin his role on March 1, taking over from Sergio Azzolari, who became the CEO of the label in the previous year.

The creative duo behind Dsquared2, Dean and Dan Caten, shared their excitement in welcoming Fontana to their team, praising his extensive knowledge and expertise in the industry. They firmly believe that his strategic vision and leadership skills make him the perfect choice to guide Dsquared2 through its next phase of expansion.

Fontana’s main objective will be to drive Dsquared2’s international business growth and develop effective expansion strategies to strengthen the brand’s position in the market. Fontana himself expressed his honor and privilege in working with the Catens and the entire Dsquared2 team. Having always admired Dsquared2 as a benchmark brand, he is confident that he can contribute significantly to its future growth.

Fontana boasts an impressive background, having earned a degree in business and economics from the University of Passau in Germany. He has previously held leadership positions in renowned luxury groups such as Tod’s and Philipp Plein. From October 2020 to February 2023, he served as the managing director of Roberto Cavalli, a prestigious Italian label that was acquired by Dubai tycoon Hussain Sajwani’s Damac Group in November 2019.

Established in 1995 by twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten, Dsquared2 has gained recognition as one of Italy’s most dynamic fashion brands. The label’s style effortlessly combines traditional Canadian iconography, contemporary Italian tailoring, playful sensuality, and a touch of irreverent cheek. Dsquared2’s collections, which embody the motto “born in Canada, made in Italy,” are available through approximately 90 retail locations, including monobrand stores and shop-in-shops.

The appointment of Ennio Fontana as the new managing director of Dsquared2 represents a significant milestone for the brand. It will be fascinating to witness how his strategic expertise and leadership will influence the future of this esteemed fashion label.
