Elaine Gold Launch Pad Winners Announced

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the Accessories Council recently announced the winners of the second Elaine Gold Launch Pad, a program dedicated to nurturing emerging design talent. This initiative specifically focuses on brands that are three years old or younger, providing them with a 23-week virtual residency that culminates in a final presentation by five finalists showcasing the vision for their brands.

In an exciting turn of events, designers Angela Luna and Loulwa Al Saad of Adiff, along with Morganne Leigh of Tyche + Iset, shared the top prize of $55,000 each. Tyche + Iset was also presented with an additional $5,000 from Hilldun Corp’s Gary Wassner, while Adiff’s Angela Luna was awarded a yearlong office space generously provided by Glen Siegel, founder of Belvedere Industry City.

Leila Dumond of Cyril Studio, Moya Annece and Ashley Cimone of Ashya, and Leonid Batekhin of Occhii were each granted $10,000 for their exceptional work in the jewelry, accessories, and apparel categories, respectively. The distinguished selection committee comprised executives from UBS Financial, Accenture, Hilldun Corp., Public School New York, Tidal NY, MZ Wallace, and LVMH.

Sara Kozlowski, the CFDA’s director of education and professional development, lauded the partnership behind the Elaine Gold Launch Pad, underscoring the invaluable mentorship provided by industry leaders. This hands-on guidance aims to ensure the long-term success of the designers and contributes to the evolution of the fashion industry. The program’s inaugural year saw Lucy Jones of Ffora emerge as the grand prize winner, propelling her inclusive apparel brand tailored for wheelchair users to the forefront of the fashion scene.

The Elaine Gold Launch Pad represents a significant initiative that champions and empowers emerging designers, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation within the fashion landscape. With strong support from industry heavyweights and the CFDA, this program serves as a vital platform for young design talents to leave their imprint and shape the future of fashion.
