Eco-Age Appoints George Harding-Rolls as Head of Advisory Division

Eco-Age, the integrated strategy consultancy founded by Livia Firth, has appointed George Harding-Rolls as the head of its new Advisory Division. This new division will focus on policy and regulation within the fashion sector. The company, which has worked with notable brands like Golden Goose and UGG, aims to guide businesses through the rapidly changing landscape of emerging legislation and directives at the EU level and beyond. Some of these include the Eco Design for Sustainable Products Regulation, the Green Claims Directive, and the NY Fashion Act.

Harding-Rolls comes to Eco-Age with four years of experience at the NGO Changing Markets Foundation. He led various corporate investigations and advocated for legislative change during his time there. One of his notable achievements was initiating the Fossil Fashion campaign, which shed light on the fashion industry’s harmful reliance on fossil fuels during the climate crisis. He also contributed to the foundation’s greenwash.com project. Prior to his work at Changing Markets Foundation, Harding-Rolls focused on strategic communications in the civil society sector, holding positions at Forum for the Future, Charitarian, and digital agency Jellyfish. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Conscious Advertising Network.

Livia Firth, Eco-Age’s creative director, expressed her admiration for Harding-Rolls’ work and highlighted the Changing Markets Foundation’s significant contributions to investigative reporting on the link between oil and the fashion industry. CEO Harriet Vocking added that Eco-Age has been actively engaged in EU regulatory work and was the first agency to prioritize reputational risk, providing clients with an innovative “insurance service.” As a result, the establishment of the new Advisory Division is a natural extension of the company’s existing services.

The rapidly changing EU landscape, with the recent announcement of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and the French Environmental Labelling requirements, indicates a shift towards mandatory regulations rather than voluntary corporate social responsibility efforts. Eco-Age recognizes the importance of staying ahead of these changes and aims to leverage its expertise in policy and regulation to support its clients in navigating the evolving fashion sector.

With the addition of George Harding-Rolls and the collaboration with sustainable fashion and textile expert Philippa Grogan, Eco-Age is well-positioned to provide comprehensive consultancy and advocacy services at a whole new level. The company’s commitment to sustainable practices and driving positive change within the industry remains at the forefront of its mission.
