Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week 2022

Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week is back for its fifth edition, scheduled to run from 5 October to 14 October. The event is set to be a dazzling showcase of sustainable and ethical fashion practices, with a special emphasis on circular fashion and innovation.

The exciting lineup for the week includes a range of fashion shows, events, and activities happening across the Netherlands. Renowned women’s designer Mo Benchellal will kick off the festivities on 4 October, setting the stage for a week filled with inspiration and insight into the world of sustainable fashion.

A major highlight of the week is the Green Fashion Talent Awards on 10 October, where emerging sustainable fashion brands will have the chance to shine. This event is a fantastic opportunity to discover the innovative work of the next generation of eco-conscious designers.

Another must-see event is the ‘Talking Trash’ show on 12 October, featuring the groundbreaking designs of Trinhbecx. This design duo is known for their avant-garde creations made from unconventional materials like coffee grounds and pineapple leather, pushing the boundaries of sustainable fashion.

In addition to the main fashion shows, there will be public events happening throughout the week, offering fashion enthusiasts the chance to engage with and learn more about sustainable practices in the industry. From the Fashion for Good Experience in Amsterdam to the Fair Fashion Festival in Utrecht, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Regional events will also be part of the celebration, such as a showcase of vintage Belgian and Japanese designer clothing at Vintage & Labels by Hendrikus in Rotterdam. Visitors can also explore the Fashion Make Sense Award exhibition at de Bijenkorf in Maastricht and join a guided tour of The Hague’s city center to gain a deeper understanding of sustainable fashion practices.

Founded by Cecile Scheele in 2014, Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week has become a highly anticipated event in the fashion world. Scheele, who is also behind sustainable fashion trade show Soul Salon and sustainable fashion agency Goodbrandz, continues to drive the industry towards a more sustainable future.

As Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week enters its fifth year, it is clear that the fashion industry is moving towards a greener and more eco-conscious future. This year’s event promises to inspire and educate audiences about the importance of making responsible consumer choices to shape a more sustainable fashion industry.
