Doublet Wins Fifth Edition of LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers

The fifth edition of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers took place on Wednesday, June 6th at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, and it was an event filled with excitement and anticipation. The prestigious award, which has been recognizing young talented designers since 2014, stood as a platform for nine finalists to showcase their amazing creations.

Out of the impressive lineup of finalists, it was the streetwear label Doublet, created by Japanese designer Masayuki Ino, that emerged as the ultimate winner. Ino’s innovative designs and unique approach to fashion impressed the esteemed jury, which included renowned names such as J.W. Anderson, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Clare Waight Keller, and Nicolas Ghesquière.

As the winner of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers 2018, Doublet will receive a staggering prize of €300,000. In addition to this significant monetary reward, the label will also be supported by the LVMH group in various areas to further develop their brand. This support will undoubtedly prove to be invaluable in propelling Doublet to even greater heights in the fashion industry.

However, Masayuki Ino was not the only one to receive recognition during this momentous occasion. Rok Hwang, the talented London-based Korean designer behind the brand Rokh, was presented with the Special Prize 2018. This distinction serves as a testament to Hwang’s exceptional talent and potential in the fashion world.

The success of Masayuki Ino and his label Doublet follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner, French designer Marine Serre. Serre’s victory in the LVMH Prize catapulted her career to new heights, as she made her debut at Paris Fashion Week in February. This demonstrates the immense opportunities and exposure that come with winning such a prestigious award.

Overall, the fifth edition of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity of the participating designers. The recognition and support offered by the LVMH group will undoubtedly pave the way for Doublet and Rokh to achieve remarkable success in the fashion industry.
