Donatella Versace Launches Medusa Power Talks

Donatella Versace, the iconic fashion designer and creative director of Versace, has recently launched a new initiative called Medusa Power Talks. This platform seeks to engage in discussions surrounding the experiences of women in positions of power in 2021. Donatella herself will lead this initiative, bringing together a group of influential women who will participate in a series of recorded interviews to kickstart the talk series. Among the participants are Precious Lee, Indya Moore, Irina Shayk, Chelsea Miller, and, of course, Donatella Versace herself.

For Donatella, being powerful means having the freedom to express oneself without fear. She recognizes that the archetype of a powerful person has evolved, especially for women, and she wants to explore what power means in today’s society. Through Medusa Power Talks, Donatella aims to discuss, examine, and even debate the different aspects and roles of power in our daily lives.

Donatella is known for her passion and advocacy for gender equality and the LGBTQ+ community. With this new talk series, she hopes to provide a platform for women and nonbinary individuals to openly talk about power and the double standards they often face when expressing their authority. She wants to reclaim leadership in the conversation about female empowerment and offer a stage for voices that represent the future she envisions.

Starting from March 30, the recorded interviews with the participating speakers will be shared on Versace’s social media platforms. These interviews will showcase the stories and perspectives of the participants, culminating in a live discussion on Versace’s newly launched Clubhouse profile.

The series is appropriately named Medusa Power Talks, drawing inspiration from the symbol of the house, the Medusa. Medusa represents unapologetic authority and female empowerment, aligning with the values and mission of the talk series.

In line with Versace’s commitment to supporting gender equality, the fashion house has also donated a portion of sales made during the International Women’s Day weekend to the Women’s Centre for Creative Work. This Los Angeles-based organization prioritizes and elevates the work of women of color, queer individuals, trans individuals, and non-binary artists in marginalized communities.

Medusa Power Talks is a powerful new initiative by Donatella Versace that emphasizes the significance of women’s voices in positions of power. By providing them with a platform to share their experiences and perspectives, this talk series aims to inspire, challenge, and empower women in their pursuit of success and influence in society.
