In honor of Disney’s centenary, the late designer Karl Lagerfeld’s brand is releasing a unique capsule collection featuring the beloved character Donald Duck. The collection, named “Disney x Karl Lagerfeld,” will be available on Karl.com and in the brand’s stores starting from February 23rd. It includes a range of clothing and accessories for both women and men, all showcasing Karl Lagerfeld’s version of Donald Duck. Lagerfeld had reimagined the iconic Disney character in 2004, creating a duck with black glasses, a black suit, and a white collared shirt.

This isn’t the first time Lagerfeld had collaborated with Disney to celebrate Donald Duck. In 2004, Lagerfeld redesigned the character for Donald Duck’s 70th anniversary, releasing a limited edition collection of 3,000 t-shirts featuring the refreshed duck.
For the brand’s 100th anniversary, Disney has been an inspiration for luxury houses, and Lagerfeld’s collaboration is just one example. Givenchy also unveiled a collaboration in December featuring Oswald, the lucky rabbit created by Walt Disney in 1927. The luxury sector is tapping into the nostalgia and love for vintage and playful characters in order to attract a younger clientele.
As for Lagerfeld’s “Disney x Karl Lagerfeld” collection, it will feature the reinvented Donald Duck, or “Donald Lagerfeld,” on various basics of the fashion brand. From sweatshirts to caps, tote bags, and sneakers, the collection exudes a playful and streetwear style that will surely captivate the younger generation.
