Dior revolutionizes fashion with virtual reality

Dior is set to revolutionize the fashion industry by presenting its Spring 2023 Men’s Fashion Show in virtual reality. Taking place on May 19th, the show will be accessible remotely through the Meta Group’s Horizon Venues application. This groundbreaking system will allow viewers to experience the event in real-time as if they were actually present in Los Angeles, where the show will be held. By using a Meta Quest virtual reality headset, participants will be transported into a digital amphitheater resembling a futuristic cinema hall.

This will be the first time Dior has utilized virtual reality technology for their fashion shows. Horizon Venues, a platform dedicated to events, is part of Meta’s new ecosystem, which includes Horizon Workrooms and Horizon Worlds. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, believes that the future of social and digital interactions lies in the metaverse, a virtual reality space where users can engage with one another. Violaine Gressier, Global Luxury Industry Manager at Meta, explains that they are confident in the potential of virtual and augmented reality to enhance the luxury sector’s experiences.

For those unable to access the Horizon Venues application, Dior will also livestream the Spring 2023 Men’s Fashion Show on their official Facebook page. In addition, a 360-degree replay will be made available later through the Oculus TV application, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the show at their own convenience.

This move by Dior represents a significant step towards embracing virtual reality and pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion shows. By incorporating cutting-edge technology, Dior is able to provide a more immersive and interactive experience for fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
