Digital Fashion Week 3.0: Future Heritage

Now, in a few months, the digital fashion adventure is set to make a grand comeback with even better experiences for both brands and visitors. Get ready for the upcoming digital fashion week in 2023, as the second installment of fashion week 3.0 organized by the metaverse platform Decentraland will take place from March 28th to March 31st. The theme for this event is “Future Heritage”, promising an exciting exploration of the digital fashion world.

Decentraland, supported by the premium NFT marketplace UNXD, is collaborating with two other digital players, Spatial and Over, to make this event even more immersive and engaging. Spatial specializes in digital spaces, while Over focuses on augmented reality powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Together, they will enhance the digital experience for viewers, allowing them to explore different metaverses. Two of these metaverses include “MVFW Lux”, which caters to the luxury-oriented audience, and “MVFW Neo”, providing a space for new digital designers.

While the list of partner brands has not yet been revealed, Decentraland has mentioned that they will have more time to develop their ideas and incorporate relevant business models. With the increasing number of people expected to spend time in the metaverse by 2026, brands have a unique opportunity to connect with a digitally-focused audience.

The first digital fashion week was a learning experience, with issues such as set smoothness and pixelation. To avoid these mishaps, the platform has established a council of curators responsible for selecting future event designers. The Institute of Digital Fashion and House of Web3 are among the entities involved in this selection process. The optimization of the digital infrastructure aims to create a seamless adventure for the audience, and only time will tell if it succeeds.

Last year’s digital fashion week was a massive success, with 70 brands participating, including renowned names like Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, Tommy Hilfiger, and Estée Lauder. They reintroduced themselves on the platform during the Metaverse Art Week on August 28th, showcasing exclusive POAPs to their audience. The event attracted over 100,000 visitors, and an impressive 165,000 garments were distributed.
