The British Fashion Council (BFC) has recently launched a Designer Showcase in Shanghai in partnership with Chinese fashion trade show Ontimeshow. This exciting collaboration will provide a platform for renowned British fashion brands Roksanda and Peter Pilotto to showcase their latest collections during Shanghai Fashion Week from Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 March.
The initiative aims to connect these designer labels with key players in the Chinese fashion industry, including retailers, media professionals, stylists, opinion leaders, and high-net worth individuals from China and the wider Asian region. By hosting a standalone showroom at Ontimeshow, Roksanda and Peter Pilotto will have the opportunity to engage with potential buyers and strengthen their presence in the Chinese market.
This partnership is part of the British Fashion Council’s China Partnerships Strategy, which seeks to support British designer businesses in expanding their reach in China. Through this collaboration, BFC and Ontimeshow aim to facilitate the internationalization of British brands and create a pathway for them to successfully navigate the complexities of the Chinese market.
Yeli Gu, founder of Ontimeshow, has expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with BFC, emphasizing their dedication to providing British designers with personalized display space and access to quality buyer resources. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing the professionalism and global exposure of Ontimeshow as a leading fashion trade show in China.
In addition to showcasing Roksanda and Peter Pilotto, the Designer Showcase will also feature British designer businesses that have already established a presence in the Chinese market. An exclusive event celebrating the success of these brands will take place at The Middle House in Shanghai on Friday 29 March.
Guests attending Shanghai Fashion Week can look forward to exciting catwalk shows by British-based designer businesses such as Jamie Wei Huang, Minki, Xu Zhi, and Jenny Packham, who is set to close the official calendar. Other British designers including Asai, Danshan, Feng Chen Wang, Gayeon Lee, Linda Farrow, Marta Jakubowski, Teatum Jones, and Xiao Li will also be participating in showrooms or events throughout the week.
Overall, the BFC and Ontimeshow collaboration signifies a significant step towards strengthening the ties between the British and Chinese fashion industries. British designers now have a unique opportunity to expand their reach and showcase their creativity in one of the most dynamic fashion markets in the world.
