Culture Week Tbilisi

Culture Week Tbilisi, a groundbreaking cultural event, is scheduled to take place in the capital city of Georgia from November 3 to 7. The event will be held at Factory Tbilisi, a refurbished space that was once a Coca-Cola factory and now serves as the venue for the city’s fashion week. Organized by Sofia Tchkonia, the founder of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi, Eugene Bereznitsky, the creator of the Kyiv Art Week International Festival and the Kyiv Art Fair, and Serge Kerbitskyi, an art specialist and promoter of Ukrainian culture, this event aims to bring together artists, designers, musicians, art curators, and international media professionals.

Following in the footsteps of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi and the Kyiv Fashion & Arts Days, which were designed to support Ukrainian culture and creativity prior to the outbreak of the war, Culture Week Tbilisi seeks to provide a platform where various artistic fields can converge. The underlying goal is to showcase the significance of freedom, democratic values, and truth. Notably, Georgia has grappled with the repercussions of the Russian invasion since 2008.

While the official list of participants for Culture Week Tbilisi has yet to be unveiled, several noteworthy names have already been confirmed. The lineup includes The Quatro ballet, the Ukrainian electro-acoustic group DZ’OB BAND, Tbilisi-based queer art collective Fungus, and Ukrainian artist Arsen Savadov. The organizers of the event emphasize that the ongoing war in Europe transcends territorial disputes; it represents a clash of opposing ideologies, a battle between tyranny and freedom, the past and the future, and darkness and light. Culture, as a beacon of enlightenment and catalyst for social change throughout history, plays a pivotal role in this fight against colonialism and imperialism.

The final official calendar for Culture Week Tbilisi will be disclosed in the upcoming weeks, enabling participants and attendees to plan their engagement in this multidimensional event that aims to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine and bolster its culture and creativity. The historical background of Factory Tbilisi, with its transformation from a Coca-Cola factory to a creative space, serves as a fitting backdrop for the fusion of fashion, art, and music that will unfold during this cultural extravaganza.
