Covent Garden Sees Surge in New Signings in UK Retail Property Sector

Covent Garden, an iconic retail hotspot in London, is seizing the opportunities created by the pandemic and experiencing a surge in new signings in the UK retail property sector. Capital & Counties Properties (Capco) has recently announced several new tenants for the area, with fashion and beauty brands taking center stage.

One of the major signings is Uniqlo, the renowned Japanese fast fashion retailer. Uniqlo has agreed to open a flagship store in Covent Garden, taking up a new space at 19-21 Long Acre and Carriage Hall on Floral Street. The impressive 21,600 square feet store solidifies Uniqlo’s presence in the capital and adds to the vibrant retail landscape of Covent Garden.

Joining Uniqlo on Floral Street is Rails, a contemporary lifestyle brand hailing from Los Angeles. This will mark Rails’ first store in London, bringing its unique blend of fashion and lifestyle offerings to Covent Garden. Luxury watch brand TAG Heuer has also jumped on board and will open a store on James Street, further elevating the shopping experience in the area.

In addition to these exciting fashion signings, Covent Garden is also expanding its beauty offerings. Digitally native beauty brand Lisa Eldridge has already opened a store at the Royal Opera House Arcade, offering its range of luxury beauty products. Renowned luxury cosmetics brand Guerlain will also launch its first UK store in the same arcade. Moreover, OTO, a luxury brand, will be opening on James Street, providing a curated selection of beauty and lifestyle products.

Covent Garden is actively breathing new life into its retail scene and has recently launched an extensive Christmas program of activities. The area has partnered with Disney’s Frozen the Musical and Lego to create a festive atmosphere. Visitors can explore a Christmas Village on the Piazza, which features a food market, a winter forest archway, and even Santa’s sleigh. Additionally, American Express has selected Covent Garden as the location for its Winter World lounge, where shoppers can participate in luxury gift wrapping workshops and indulge in festive refreshments.

These new signings and initiatives exemplify the resilience and appeal of Covent Garden as a top-notch retail destination. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the area continues to attract renowned brands and offer unforgettable experiences to shoppers. With new stores opening and exciting events planned, Covent Garden is poised to thrive in the months to come.
