Coperni and Vivienne Westwood Showcase Innovative Collections at Paris Fashion Week

Coperni, the French fashion brand, made a huge impact during Paris Fashion Week, drawing in a diverse crowd of industry professionals and fashion enthusiasts. Known for its strong social media presence, Coperni has become one of the most coveted brands in the fashion industry.

The brand’s show, held at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers, started with a slight delay and was kickstarted by the arrival of Kylie Jenner, who wore a stunning electric blue mini-dress and futuristic sunglasses. Coperni’s designers, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, presented a collection that paid homage to powerful women.

The collection featured a range of sensual and modern designs, including hybrid garments that combined men’s suits with fitted dresses. Button-down jackets layered over white tank tops, which are set to be a staple for the upcoming spring/summer season. Asymmetrical mini-dresses with side slits and lingerie-inspired details were also showcased. Black ensembles with fuchsia and metallic blue accents, along with exaggerated shoulder pads reminiscent of robotic armor, added drama to the collection. The looks were completed with casual low-rise cargo pants and figure-hugging mini-shorts. Pastel outfits adorned with sparkling crystals added a touch of femininity.

However, the show’s highlight came at the end with a captivating live performance that quickly went viral. Supermodel Bella Hadid took the stage completely naked and became a blank canvas for two professionals to spray her with fabric spray paint. The mesmerizing performance, lasting less than seven minutes, left the audience in awe and quickly became a social media sensation.

This visually immersive project showcased Coperni’s innovative spirit. By utilizing spray fabric developed by Spanish inventor Manel Torres, the brand created a live dress that solidified into a tight-fitting, latex-like fabric upon contact with Bella Hadid’s body. Another woman joined the performance to refine the look, adding a side slit and adjusting the straps, transforming Bella into a modern-day sculpture.

In addition to Coperni, renowned British designer Vivienne Westwood also showcased her collection in Paris. The show, held at the Gaîté Lyrique theater, was a personal tribute to the city of Paris. Andreas Kronthaler, Vivienne Westwood’s husband and creative director of the brand, curated the collection.

The show featured both male and female models donning oversized platform shoes and various theatrical accessories. The collection beautifully juxtaposed Vivienne Westwood’s signature punk style with Renaissance influences. Standout pieces included wide satin dresses with layered tulle ruffles, refined corsets, ruched sleeves, and baroque floral patterns. Ripped shirt collars, harnesses, layered knit and crochet pieces, and a voluminous silky satin dress added to the historical aesthetic of the looks.

Stephen Walters silk brocades, specially commissioned for the brand, were prominently featured in the collection. Other materials used were sourced from dormant stocks and recycled second-hand pieces, highlighting the collection’s historical nature. Notable attendees in the front row included singers Halsey and Doja Cat, as well as model Coco Rocha. Prominent models Irina Shayk and Bella Hadid also graced the runway.

Both Coperni and Vivienne Westwood left a lasting impression on the audience with their unique and innovative collections. These shows serve as a testament to the creativity and talent present in the fashion industry. Paris Fashion Week remains a platform for designers to push boundaries and make bold statements with their collections.
