Copenhagen Fashion Week’s Innovative ‘Hybrid’ Format

Copenhagen Fashion Week is breaking new ground with its upcoming event set for August 9-12 by unveiling a fresh and innovative “hybrid” format. This unique approach will seamlessly combine digital experiences with physical events, offering a dynamic platform to showcase the latest fashion trends in an exciting new way.

In contrast to events like London Fashion Week, which have opted for a fully digital format, Copenhagen Fashion Week recognizes the need to adapt to the current post-coronavirus era. CEO Cecilie Thorsmark emphasized that while digital solutions cannot fully replicate the sensory experience of attending a physical fashion week, the importance of presenting shows digitally has never been more crucial.

The digital platform will feature a mix of live and pre-recorded content from a variety of brands, ensuring that editors, buyers, and fashion enthusiasts can access the latest collections from anywhere in the world. By expanding their digital presence, Copenhagen Fashion Week hopes to reach a wider audience and overcome any travel restrictions that may limit participation.

To further enhance the digital experience, Copenhagen Fashion Week has assembled a digital advisory board consisting of industry leaders like Nicolaj Reffstrup, Thomas Hertz, Susanne Holzweiler, Frida Bard, and Martin Gjesing. This diverse group will provide valuable insights and guidance to ensure a successful and engaging event.

In addition to the digital component, Copenhagen Fashion Week will feature a physical hub known as CPHFW Hub, serving as a central location for social events, presentations, interviews, and more. Brands will also have the opportunity to host physical shows at unique venues chosen by each brand, creating a rich and immersive experience for attendees.

Despite the Danish government’s decision to lift the ban on gatherings of 200+ people just one day before the event, Copenhagen Fashion Week stresses the importance of adhering to safety precautions such as social distancing during live shows and presentations. Thorsmark emphasized the need for brands to remain flexible and adaptable in planning live showcases, signaling a new chapter for the future of Copenhagen Fashion Week.
