Copenhagen Fashion Week Returns with SS22 Season

Copenhagen Fashion Week is gearing up for its SS22 season and making a highly anticipated comeback in a physical format. From August 10-13, a total of 38 brands will participate in the event, showcasing their collections to a mix of industry professionals, influencers, and fashion enthusiasts. The line-up includes a combination of well-established names and emerging talents, ensuring a diverse and exciting showcase of Nordic design.

Some of the notable brands set to take the stage include Ganni, Stine Goya, Holzweiler, Saks Potts, and Marimekko. These brands have become synonymous with Nordic fashion and have garnered international recognition for their unique aesthetics and craftsmanship. Additionally, returning to the schedule are Han Kjøbenhavn, Helmstedt, Brøgger, and Hope, adding to the already impressive roster of brands.

Out of the 38 shows, 30 will be physical events, where guests can experience the collections up close and immerse themselves in the world of fashion. For those unable to attend in person, the remaining shows will be digitally streamed on the fashion week’s website, allowing for a wider audience to participate in the event.

In addition to the brand showcases, Copenhagen Fashion Week aims to shine a spotlight on menswear this season. A curated selection of menswear brands, including Schnayderman’s, (di)vision, Berner Kühl, and Nikolaj Storm Copenhagen, will present their collections, showcasing the latest trends in menswear fashion.

One of the highlights of this year’s fashion week is the introduction of the Talent Slot. A Roege Hove, a contemporary knitwear and textile manipulation designer, has been awarded the debut Talent Slot for their conscious approach to design. As part of the program, Julie Gilhart, CDO of Tomorrow Ltd and President of Tomorrow Projects, will serve as CFW’s inaugural Talent Mentor, providing guidance and support to A Roege Hove.

The event will also feature emerging designer Louise Lyngh Bjerregaard, who will make her debut at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Additionally, The Royal Danish Academy will showcase a selection of its MA students’ graduate collections, highlighting the creativity and innovation of the next generation of designers.

In a significant move, Copenhagen Fashion Week has expanded its Show Committee to include international figures for the first time. This decision was made to ensure an international perspective in curating the SS22 schedule. The committee now includes Ida Petersson from Browns Fashion, Angela Koh from New York Times T Magazine, Christopher J. Morency from Highsnobiety, Dio Kurazawa from the Bear Scouts, and Julie Gilhart from Tomorrow. Their expertise and global outlook will contribute to the overall success of the event.

With its return to an in-person format, Copenhagen Fashion Week showcases the resilience and adaptability of the industry, demonstrating that fashion events can still thrive in a post-pandemic world. The diverse line-up of brands, inclusion of international figures in the Show Committee, and recognition of emerging talents through the Talent Slot solidify Copenhagen Fashion Week’s position as a global platform for Nordic design excellence.
