Converse made a bold and empowering move during this season’s London Fashion Week: Men’s by shining a spotlight on female designers. Collaborating with Paria Farzaneh and Feng Chen Wang, the iconic brand unveiled a fresh take on the classic Chuck ’70 model for Autumn/Winter 2019.
Paria Farzaneh, a designer who first teamed up with Converse in 2018, wowed audiences last year with her Converse One Star Mid collection at LFWM. This time around, Farzaneh infused her Iranian heritage into the Chuck ’70 silhouette with vibrant patterns and colors, showcasing her unique perspective.
On the other hand, Converse joined forces with Feng Chen Wang for the AW19 collection, focusing on the concept of “sports couture for a female consumer.” Wang’s special Chuck ’70 design featured a standout ridged sole seamlessly integrated with the classic rubber bottoms, emphasizing the theme of female empowerment and determination.
Feng Chen Wang, hailing from China and based in London, founded her menswear line in 2015 after completing her master’s degree in menswear fashion from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. Drawing inspiration from her upbringing under China’s one-child policy, Wang’s collection resonated with audiences at LFWM.
London Fashion Week: Men’s, held from January 5 to 7, and Pitti Immagine Uomo event, from January 8 to 11, are pivotal events on the men’s fashion calendar. These platforms provide designers with the opportunity to showcase their innovative and boundary-pushing designs to a global audience hungry for cutting-edge fashion concepts.
