Construction Underway for £160 Million Designer Outlet in Cannock

Construction is on the horizon for a brand new £160 million designer outlet in Cannock, with McArthurGlen, a renowned owner of designer outlets worldwide, confirming the exciting news. The upcoming shopping destination is set to span an impressive 285,000 square feet of retail space across two phases, marking it as the 26th center in the group’s global portfolio and the seventh in the UK. The green light for the outlet center at Mill Green was given in 2016, with a joint venture announced in December the following year involving Aviva Investors, The Richardson Family, and U+I to bring the project to life.

Expected to be finished by 2020, the first phase of the development will offer 80 units housing premium and luxury brands, with discounts of up to 60% promised year-round. Alongside the retail spaces, the Cannock Designer Outlet will boast an array of dining options, a children’s play area, bike parking facilities, and parking space for up to 1,400 cars.

Gary Bond, joint managing director of development at McArthurGlen, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the employment opportunities it will generate for the locals and the new shopping hub it will provide for the region’s 11 million residents. He underscored the company’s commitment to architectural design and sustainability standards that will complement and preserve the natural landscape of the area.

Councillor George Adamson of Cannock Chase Council also welcomed the development, viewing it as a significant milestone for the district. He pledged efforts to minimize disruption during the construction phase and emphasized the goal of creating a development that the community can take pride in.

In addition to the Cannock project, McArthurGlen is actively expanding its existing centers in Cheshire Oaks and Ashford in the UK. The company is also gearing up to enter the Spanish market next year with the launch of the first designer outlet in the south of Spain. This period of growth and expansion signifies an exciting chapter for McArthurGlen as it continues to solidify its position as a retail industry leader.
