Colette, Mon Amour

The iconic concept store located at 213 rue Saint Honoré in Paris is set to be featured in a groundbreaking documentary titled ‘Colette, Mon Amour.’ This highly anticipated film will delve into the final six months of the store’s existence, from the retirement announcement of its founder, Colette Rousseaux, in the summer of 2017, to its official closure on December 20, 2017.

Directed by Hugues Lawson-Body, ‘Colette, Mon Amour’ aims to explore the journey of how a place at the forefront of the avant-garde eventually comes to an end. Over the span of approximately one hour, the documentary will highlight the significant moments and events that took place during the store’s final period, while also featuring personal anecdotes from devoted customers like Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Guillaume Henry, and Virgil Abloh.

The Colette store gained international recognition for its cutting-edge and eclectic selection of fashion and lifestyle products sourced from around the world. Beyond its retail offerings, the store was renowned for hosting premieres, unique events, and exclusive product releases. This creative and innovative atmosphere contributed to its status as a cult place within the fashion industry, attracting visitors and customers from all over the globe.

Furthermore, ‘Colette, Mon Amour’ will explore the collaboration between the concept store and luxury fashion house Saint Laurent during its final days. Known as YSLColette, this partnership served as a fitting swan song for both entities, symbolizing their shared commitment to pushing boundaries and challenging conventions.

Although the Colette store has now been replaced by the flagship Saint Laurent Rive Droite, complete with its own café corner, the documentary aims to capture and preserve the spirit of this iconic cultural institution. ‘Colette, Mon Amour’ is set to be released in 2020 and is expected to provide a unique and intimate portrayal of the store’s final chapter, showcasing its impact on fashion, art, and lifestyle.
