Christina Zeller’s Departure from Delvaux

Christina Zeller, the highly esteemed artistic director of Delvaux, has recently announced her departure from the prestigious Belgian luxury brand after nearly ten years of devoted service. This news was officially confirmed by Delvaux through a press release, citing personal reasons as the cause for Zeller’s decision to leave.

This announcement comes as a significant shift for Delvaux, especially following the appointment of CEO Marco Probst just ten months ago. With Zeller’s exit, the artistic director responsibilities will now be overseen by the creative studio that has collaborated closely with her for over three years.

Founded in 1829 in Brussels, Delvaux boasts a rich heritage and reputation in the luxury goods industry. Acquired by First Heritage Brands, a Chinese investment firm owned by the Fung family in 2011, the brand has experienced remarkable global growth, establishing flagship stores in key cities such as New York, Paris, London, Rome, Milan, and Hong Kong. With sales skyrocketing, Delvaux currently operates 45 mono-brand boutiques worldwide.

As the official supplier to the Royal Court of Belgium since 1883, Delvaux holds a prestigious position in the fashion world. Known for its innovation in creating the modern handbag and securing the first handbag patent in 1908, Delvaux continues to redefine luxury accessories.

Zeller’s journey with Delvaux commenced in 2011 when she joined as the image & product director. Throughout her time with the brand, she played a pivotal role in revitalizing and enriching Delvaux’s diverse collections. In 2017, she was promoted to artistic director, overseeing a period of significant growth and success. Additionally, in January 2020, Zeller also took on the responsibility of communications within the brand.

During her tenure, Zeller was instrumental in elevating Delvaux into a premier luxury label, seamlessly fusing its masterful craftsmanship with elements of Surrealism influenced by renowned Belgian artists like René Magritte. In a statement, Probst expressed his appreciation for Zeller’s exceptional dedication and visionary creativity, which have truly shaped the brand’s identity.

Christina Zeller will be with the brand until the end of 2020, working closely with the teams during this transitional phase. While her departure marks the end of an era at Delvaux, her legacy of innovation and artistic vision will undoubtedly continue to influence the brand’s future endeavors.
