Christian Dior Appoints James Deeny as Director of Press and Public Relations

Christian Dior, the renowned fashion house under the LVMH luxury group, has made a significant change within its communications team. The brand has appointed James Deeny as the new director of press, public and international relations for Christian Dior Couture, as well as corporate communications. Deeny will officially assume his role on October 9.

This move comes as Giuseppe Sperandio, the previous head of press and public relations at Dior, departs to take on a new position at Loro Piana, another brand under the LVMH umbrella. As the new director, Deeny will be responsible for overseeing press and public relations for various categories, including women’s lines, children’s products, and Dior Maison.

Deeny will report to Olivier Bialobos, the Deputy Managing Director overseeing global communications and image. Interestingly, Deeny’s return to LVMH marks a homecoming for him, as he had previously worked in the fashion empire from 2012 to 2019 as the head of press and public relations for Kenzo, another brand owned by Bernard Arnault.

Before joining Dior, Deeny gained further experience in the industry by holding the position of senior vice president of press relations at the communications agency KCD. Prior to that, he spent five years as the global public relations manager at Dries Van Noten. Deeny’s educational background includes a BA from University College Dublin and a postgraduate diploma in marketing from Dublin Business School. He started his career as an editorial assistant at Assouline Editions.

The appointment of James Deeny reflects Christian Dior’s commitment to strengthening its communications department. Leveraging Deeny’s extensive experience in luxury fashion, particularly his prior affiliation with LVMH, the brand aims to enhance its press, public, and international relations strategies. With the ever-changing landscape of the fashion industry, the addition of Deeny to the team will undoubtedly contribute to Christian Dior’s continuous success.
