Chloé Welcomes Chemena Kamali as New Head of Collections

After the departure of designer Gabriela Hearst earlier this year, Chloé is welcoming German designer Chemena Kamali as the new head of its collections. This appointment is seen as a return to the brand’s roots, as Kamali previously worked at Chloé in the early 2000s under the guidance of Phoebe Philo and later joined Clare Waight Keller’s team in 2013. Kamali expressed her excitement about the role, stating that her heart has always belonged to Chloé since she first walked through its doors over 20 years ago.

Having graduated from London’s Central Saint Martin’s School of Art and Fashion, Kamali has also gained experience in the industry through her work as the director of women’s ready-to-wear design at Saint Laurent, working alongside Anthony Vaccarello. Riccardo Bellini, the CEO of Chloé, praised Kamali’s creative talent, experience, and connection to the brand’s heritage and values, making her the ideal choice for the role. He believes that Kamali’s vision, driven by her love for the brand, will authentically capture the unique DNA of Chloé.

Kamali’s first creations for Chloé will be revealed in January as part of a pre-collection, with her Fall-Winter 2024 season silhouettes to be debuted in February during Paris Fashion Week. This announcement has sparked anticipation within the fashion industry, as Kamali is expected to bring a fresh perspective and revive the brand’s legacy while staying true to its essence.
