Chloé Becomes First Couture House to Receive B Corp Certification

Chloé, the esteemed fashion house, has recently been granted one of the most rigorous certifications in terms of social and environmental impact. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the luxury brand, as it becomes the first couture house to receive such recognition. The green shift within Chloé started last summer, shortly after Gabriela Hearst took on the role of artistic director. By pursuing B Corp certification, which is owned by Richemont, the luxury group that Chloé belongs to, the brand underwent an extensive evaluation that included more than 300 inquiries regarding its governance and commitments to its employees, communities, and the environment.

It is worth noting that only about one in three companies obtain approval for their certification requests, and the entire rating and verification process can take up to ten months to complete. Chloé’s recent accomplishments in sustainability include the establishment of a Sustainability Committee, consisting of independent experts, and the development of a comprehensive roadmap involving the brand, its employees, and its partners. Additionally, Chloé has emphasized its efforts to forge stronger connections with suppliers and stakeholders certified by Fair Trade.

Riccardo Bellini, the CEO of Chloé, expressed the belief that the brand must take full responsibility for its impact on both people and the planet. He stated, “We firmly believe that we must take full responsibility for our impact on people and the planet by injecting meaning into everything we do, transforming our way of doing business, and actively contributing to building a better world. B Corp offers us a powerful framework to accelerate and guide this transformation. We are proud of this achievement and I would like to thank those who have worked hard to make it possible for over 18 months. By becoming a B Corp today, we strengthen our commitment to continuously challenge ourselves to use our brand and our company as a force for good.”
