Charles Jeffrey Loverboy Pre-Spring 2024 Collection: Statant Passant Rampant

Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, a renowned fashion brand known for its avant-garde and rebellious style, is shaking up its collection release schedule. In an exciting move, the label has decided to transition from releasing two collections a year to four. As part of this transformation, they have unveiled their very first pre-spring collection for 2024, titled Statant Passant Rampant. This new collection draws inspiration from the vibrant visual language of medieval Britain.

The brand explains that this collection signifies a deeper dive into their continued fascination with sartorial history. The name, PS24, reflects the three distinct poses commonly seen in traditional heraldry. These poses depict animals progressively moving from a standing position (statant), to walking (passant), and finally to a triumphant hind-legged roar (rampant).

One of the standout features of this collection is the reinterpretation of heraldic symbols through captivating illustrations created by Charles Jeffrey. These illustrations serve as the cornerstone motif of the collection, featuring mischievous unicorns, powerful eagles, and majestic rampant lions. These elements artfully intertwine with traditional heraldic design elements like diamonds and stripes, resulting in a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of color. The illustrations have been printed on an array of denim pieces, including jackets, jeans, mini dresses, as well as ‘guddle’ knits and accessories.

True to the brand’s signature style, tartan also plays a prominent role in this collection. The tartan patterns make appearances in various forms, such as etched denim styles and woven plaid suits and mini kilts. Additionally, there are delightful doodles of medieval tropes, including jesters, castles, swords, and gargoyle-esque faces, all illustrated in Charles Jeffrey’s distinctive and idiosyncratic style.

Aside from the overarching theme of the collection, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy introduces two new signature suiting styles which mark a significant moment in redefining tailoring for the brand. These styles include a sleek single-breasted slim-cut Glasgow suit featuring buckle detailing, as well as an oversized double-breasted Edinburgh suit.

The medieval storytelling approach extends to the accessories in this collection. The brand introduces an understated black leather shoulder bag adorned with a buckle reminiscent of the roaring mouth of a mythical beast. They have also reimagined their popular ears beanies to reflect the seasonal theme.

All in all, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy’s pre-spring collection for 2024 reaffirms the brand’s dedication to pushing boundaries and redefining the fashion landscape. The transition from two to four collections per year provides an opportunity for them to explore new creative directions and captivate fashion enthusiasts with their distinct vision.
