Charity Super.Mkt Expands to Salford

Charity Super.Mkt, the pioneering multi-charity pre-loved fashion store, is set to expand its presence in the UK with the launch of its first location in Salford. Following the successful openings of stores in Brent Cross and Cabot Circus, the fashion retailer will open its doors at Quayside MediaCity next month. The store prides itself on offering a carefully curated selection of secondhand clothing from various charities, ensuring that shoppers have access to the most desirable pre-loved fashion items. Going beyond just shopping, Charity Super.Mkt will also feature in-store DJs on weekends and has plans to host more events in the future.

The Salford location of Charity Super.Mkt will have a preview sale on the evening of November 2, followed by its official opening on November 3. The store will operate until December 13, with proceeds from sales going to support several charitable organizations, including Age UK, All Aboard, Havens Hospices, and St Vincent de Paul.

Charity Super.Mkt made its debut in Brent Cross in January, surpassing its fundraising target for local and national charities within just four days. Encouraged by this initial success, the store expanded to Bristol’s Cabot Circus, where it extended its residency due to high demand. In just six months of operation, Charity Super.Mkt has managed to sell over 100,000 secondhand items, diverting 30,000kg of clothing from ending up in landfill. Additionally, the store claims to have prevented more than 260,000kg of CO2 emissions.

The brainchild of Maria Chenoweth, CEO of sustainable clothing charity TRAID, and Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of fashion brand Red or Dead and designer at HemingwayDesign, Charity Super.Mkt seeks to tap into the growing consciousness among younger shoppers about the environmental impact of their fashion choices. Hemingway is particularly thrilled about expanding into northern England, highlighting the region’s rich tradition of community support and charitable initiatives. He believes the ethos of Charity Super.Mkt aligns perfectly with the values of the North.

Above all, Charity Super.Mkt’s mission is to preserve and celebrate unique garment styles that would otherwise be forgotten. By offering affordable and sustainable shopping options, the store allows customers to create one-of-a-kind looks while contributing to meaningful causes. With its ongoing growth and success, Charity Super.Mkt is setting a new benchmark for conscious fashion consumption in the UK.
