Chanel’s ‘Mademoiselle Privé’ Exhibition to Captivate Tokyo

After being showcased in London, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Shanghai with great success, the immersive experience of “Mademoiselle Privé” is now set to captivate Tokyo. Opening its doors tomorrow, this remarkable exhibition offers visitors the chance to delve into the private world of Gabrielle Chanel and immerse themselves in the creative universe of the iconic fashion house.

Taking its name from the sign that marks the door to Coco Chanel’s studio, which was located on the third floor of the renowned 31 rue Cambon building in Paris, the “Mademoiselle Privé” exhibition is making its fifth international stop. With a reimagined scenography, the exhibition highlights three main themes that showcase different facets of the Maison. The first theme, Haute Couture, presents an array of iconic pieces from Chanel’s collections. The second theme, Perfumery, delves into the history of the legendary Chanel N°5 fragrance, which was originally created in 1921. Finally, the exhibition explores High Jewelry with the re-edition of “Bijoux de diamants,” a sparkling diamond collection personally designed by Gabrielle Chanel in 1932. To enhance the experience, immersive photographs and reconstructions have been incorporated into the exhibition, giving visitors an even deeper understanding of the brand’s craftsmanship.

Chanel has taken a modern approach to promote the exhibition by partnering with Line, a popular social media platform in Japan known for its extensive user base of over 203 million active users. Through Chanel’s official Line account, visitors are able to reserve their free access to the exhibition, making it convenient and accessible for all. Additionally, to generate even more excitement for the event, renowned filmmaker Sofia Coppola, who has a close relationship with the fashion house, has created a captivating tribute video to Gabrielle Chanel. This video seamlessly combines archival footage, advertisements, and film scenes to offer a unique perspective on the iconic designer.

From October 19th to December 1st, 2019, the “Mademoiselle Privé” exhibition will be held at B&C Hall-Tennoz in Tokyo. This is a rare opportunity not to be missed if you want to step into the world of Gabrielle Chanel and discover the rich creative legacy of the Maison.
