Chanel Partners with University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership

Luxury fashion house Chanel has announced a three-year partnership with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) in order to focus on sustainable leadership. This collaboration aims to accelerate the development of eco-responsible initiatives and training programs.

The first phase of the partnership involves implementing a sustainable leadership training program for Chanel’s senior management and key operational teams. This program seeks to raise awareness and enhance knowledge among employees regarding biodiversity protection, carbon emissions reduction, and their practical applications, particularly within the supply chain.

To expedite innovation in these areas, Chanel will be launching three “sprints” that will last up to 18 months each. These sprints will utilize the expertise of the University of Cambridge in key areas and apply them to prototype commercial opportunities.

Another aspect of the partnership involves sponsoring students to support their access to the CISL Master’s program. This sponsorship aims to cultivate a new generation of socially-conscious managers.

Andrea d’Avack, Chief Sustainability Officer at Chanel, states that sustainability is a critical challenge facing society today and is a strategic priority for the company. The partnership with the University of Cambridge reflects Chanel’s commitment to their company’s transformation.

Through this collaboration, Chanel aims to integrate sustainability and responsible leadership into its business practices. This aligns with their long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. The partnership signifies a significant step for Chanel in tackling global sustainability challenges and contributing to a more sustainable future.
