CFDA Fashion Awards 2021 Nominees Unveiled

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has recently unveiled the nominees and honorees for the upcoming 2021 CFDA Fashion Awards. This highly esteemed event is set to take place on November 10th and will shine a well-deserved spotlight on the exceptional talents of individuals such as Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, Emily Adams Bode, and Catherine Holstein.

The CFDA Fashion Awards serves as a platform to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions in the fashion industry, across various categories. These categories include American Womenswear Designer of the Year, American Menswear Designer of the Year, American Accessories Designer of the Year, American Emerging Designer of the Year, International Women’s Designer of the Year, and International Men’s Designer of the Year.

Esteemed designers Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Christopher John Rogers, Gabriela Hearst, Marc Jacobs, and Peter Do are all nominees for the coveted American Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

In the American Menswear Designer of the Year category, we have previous American Emerging Designer awardee Emily Adams Bode for Bode, Jerry Lorenzo for Fear of God, Mike Amiri for Amiri, Telfar Clemens for Telfar, and Thom Browne as the nominees.

For the American Accessories Designer of the Year category, talented contenders include Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for their brand The Row, Aurora James for Brother Vellies, Stuart Vevers for Coach, Gabriela Hearst, and Telfar Clemens.

The American Emerging Designer of the Year nominees consist of Edvin Thompson for Theophilio, Eli Russell Linnetz for Erl, Jameel Mohammed for Khiry, Kenneth Nicholson, and Maisie Schloss for Maisie Wilen. These emerging designers have made significant waves in the industry and represent the future of American fashion.

On the international front, we have the International Women’s Designer of the Year category, featuring highly renowned designers such as Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta, Demna Gvasalia for Balenciaga, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons for Prada, Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino, and Simon Porte Jacquemus for Jacquemus.

Lastly, the International Men’s Designer of the Year nominees include Daniel Lee for Bottega Veneta, Dries Van Noten, Grace Wales Bonner for Wales Bonner, Rick Owens, and Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton. These talented designers have made significant contributions to the global fashion scene and have pushed boundaries with their unique perspectives.

CFDA CEO Steven Kolb expressed his excitement for the return of the CFDA Fashion Awards as an in-person event.
