CFDA and Vogue’s Relief Fund A Common Thread Reveals Grant Recipients

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue’s relief fund, A Common Thread, have recently revealed the initial recipients of grants aimed at supporting businesses in the fashion industry amidst the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. With a total allocation of $2.13 million, 44 businesses will receive financial assistance to address various needs, including employee rehiring, rent payments, factory and manufacturer costs, collection development, and digital marketing improvements.

Notable names among the grant recipients include Bode, Rodarte, Brother Vellies, and Rachel Comey, in addition to retailers and factories within the fashion sector. The selection process was conducted by a panel of industry experts with diverse backgrounds in retail, design, and education.

Over 1,000 applications were submitted to A Common Thread from individuals and businesses within the American fashion industry facing difficulties due to the pandemic. While only a portion were chosen in the first round, those who remain eligible may still have a chance to receive funding during the subsequent phase.

Since its launch in March, A Common Thread has garnered nearly $5 million in donations, demonstrating the collective effort to aid individuals and businesses in the American fashion realm impacted by the pandemic. The fund’s objective is to offer vital relief to a sector that continues to endure significant challenges in the face of the ongoing global crisis.
