Celine’s Digital Expansion: Launching E-Commerce in the US and Spain

Celine, the renowned luxury brand under the ownership of LVMH, has recently embarked on a significant digital expansion by launching its e-commerce platforms in the United States and Spain. This strategic move follows the brand’s initial venture into online activities, starting with the establishment of its Instagram profile in February 2017. Subsequently, Celine proceeded to introduce its first online store in France, expanding its digital footprint to encompass Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Prior to the unveiling of the brand’s highly anticipated runway show under the new leadership of Creative Director Hedi Slimane, Celine underwent a controversial transformation. The iconic accent was removed from the brand’s name, and its entire history on Instagram was erased. During this transition period, online sales were temporarily put on hold, with the e-commerce platforms merely displaying a message directing visitors to Slimane’s inaugural show.

The newly established American and Spanish e-commerce platforms showcase a diverse array of accessories, ranging from exquisite handbags, wallets, and jewelry to chic sunglasses and card holders. Customers also have the opportunity to pre-order items from Celine’s Summer 2019 accessories collection, explore the complete Spring-Summer 2019 line, and delve into the brand’s collaboration with acclaimed American artist Christian Marclay.

Apart from the standalone e-commerce websites, Celine’s products are also accessible on the prestigious luxury e-commerce site, 24 Sèvres. In the United States, enthusiasts can find Celine merchandise at prominent department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus, as well as at the brand’s own boutiques in various cities. Meanwhile, in Spain, Celine operates a flagship store in Barcelona, along with two retail outlets in Madrid.

Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH, has articulated an ambitious vision for Celine, aiming to elevate it to the ranks of the foremost fashion brands globally, with anticipated revenues ranging between 2 and 3 billion euros. Achieving this audacious objective would entail doubling or even tripling the brand’s reported sales from the previous fiscal year.

By launching its e-commerce platforms in key markets like the United States and Spain, Celine is taking notable strides towards fortifying its digital presence and engaging a wider global audience of luxury fashion aficionados.
