Celine Unveils New Retail Concept at Madison Avenue Store

Celine, the luxury fashion brand, has unveiled its new retail concept at its flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York City. The design of the store, which has a minimalist structure and clean lines, reflects the artistic direction of the brand under the influence of creative director Hedi Slimane. After nine months of renovation, the store has finally opened its doors at 650 Madison Avenue, just a few doors down from its previous location. Spanning nearly 500 square meters, it is currently the largest Celine boutique out of the brand’s 140 points of sale worldwide.

To enhance the space, Hedi Slimane collaborated with contemporary artists James Balmforth from the UK and Jose Dávila from Mexico, both of whom are currently featured in the “Togeth’Her: Artists in the Spotlight” exhibition at the Monnaie de Paris. Known for their work with mineral materials, the artists incorporated marble, basalt, and granite, blending them with wood, steel, and mirrors to create an organic interpretation of the space.

In addition to the Madison Avenue store, Celine has announced plans to open or renovate other flagship stores in major cities around the world, including London, Tokyo, Milan, Shanghai, and Beijing. The brand is also renovating its boutique on Rue de Grenelle in Paris, which will reopen in March. The renovated store will not only showcase women’s collections but will also introduce Celine’s first-ever menswear line, presented by Hedi Slimane during Paris Fashion Week in January. This is a significant step for the brand, which was established in 1945.

The launch of Celine Homme, the brand’s menswear line, plays a crucial role in reinterpreting Celine’s retail spaces worldwide. In line with this, Celine will soon open a stand-alone menswear boutique on Rue François 1er in Paris’ 8th arrondissement. Hedi Slimane, who previously served as the creative director of Dior Homme and Saint Laurent, was appointed as the creative director of Celine in January 2018, following the departure of designer Phoebe Philo.

Overall, Celine’s new retail concept at its Madison Avenue flagship store in New York City showcases Hedi Slimane’s influence on the brand’s artistic direction. With contemporary artists’ collaboration and plans for store expansions and renovations, Celine is embarking on an exciting new chapter.
