Loewe, the renowned Spanish luxury fashion house, has finally unveiled its highly anticipated Casa Loewe flagship store on New Bond Street in London, following a year-long restoration process. This exquisite three-storey store now stands as the sole Loewe location in the UK capital, replacing the former Mount Street boutique. More than just a retail space, Casa Loewe is a true destination in its own right, showcasing the brand’s latest collections alongside carefully selected artworks and design pieces that resonate with the vision of Creative Director Jonathan Anderson.
Under Anderson’s leadership since 2013, Loewe has been actively expanding its creative horizons to incorporate art and craftsmanship as fundamental components of its design ethos. The Casa Loewe concept, previously successful in Madrid and Tokyo, includes a pop-up area dedicated to hosting a variety of art installations, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to supporting art and craftsmanship. This dedication is closely linked to initiatives such as Loewe’s Craft Prize, which celebrates innovative craft makers globally, and the recent Chance Encounters exhibition in Miami.
Upon stepping inside the store, visitors are greeted by a carefully curated selection of artworks by 14 diverse artists, featuring striking sculptures by Ernst Gamperl, captivating photographs by Alair Gomes, and Grayson Perry’s iconic ‘Mum and Dad’ vase. Works by Nicholas Byrne, Giorgio Griffa, Caragh Thuring, Magali Reus, Sara Flynn, Daniel Sinsel, and David Wojnarowicz also adorn the space, creating a harmonious blend of fashion, art, and design within a welcoming, home-like ambiance that resonates with both the brand and its clientele.
The interior design of the store highlights a handcrafted cylindrical staircase crafted from Campaspero limestone from Valladolid, Spain, connecting the store’s three floors seamlessly. A glass-encased lift, reminiscent of a similar feature in the Madrid flagship store, offers visitors a unique visual experience as they navigate the space. By establishing its presence on New Bond Street, Loewe joins a prestigious lineup of luxury fashion brands such as Chanel, Fendi, Dior, and Ralph Lauren in London’s premier luxury shopping district.
