Carolina Herrera’s pre-fall 2021 collection was recently unveiled by designer Wes Gordon in a virtual presentation that paid homage to iconic fashion moments from the past. The collection, consisting of 43 looks, showcased Gordon’s modern interpretation of Carolina Herrera’s signature style, marked by a nod to the Swinging Sixties and the house’s classic polka dot print.
Drawing inspiration from a 1962 photoshoot by David Bailey featuring model Jean Shrimpton, Gordon infused the collection with a sense of energy and freshness that captured the essence of that era. Sustainability played a key role in the design process, with eco-friendly fabrics incorporated into a quarter of the collection.
Gordon reimagined classic Herrera silhouettes by introducing modern elements like knit tops, bodysuits, and reversible combinations. The collection featured a range of versatile pieces, from ruffled party frocks to oversized cashmere turtlenecks, offering a blend of elegance and wearability.
The lookbook for the collection, shot by photographer Roe Etheridge, exuded sophistication and luxury, reflecting a lifestyle of art collectors and their companions. Despite the challenges faced in the past year, Gordon expressed optimism for a vaccinated world by the time the collection is available in May and June.
As Gordon concluded the presentation, he emphasized the importance of self-expression through fashion and highlighted the resilience and creativity of his team in delivering a beautiful collection amid adversity. The pre-fall 2021 collection from Carolina Herrera embodies the spirit of emergence, offering unique and wearable pieces for a new era of style.
