Capri Holdings Appoints Alejandro Martinez-Galindo as Chief Information Officer

Capri Holdings, the global fashion luxury group known for brands such as Michael Kors, Versace, and Jimmy Choo, has announced the appointment of Alejandro Martinez-Galindo as its new chief information officer (CIO). Martinez-Galindo will officially start in his role on March 8, taking over from retiring Dave Kardesh. Reporting to Thomas Edwards, the EVP, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer of Capri Holdings, Martinez-Galindo brings a wealth of experience in leading digital transformations and implementing large-scale enterprise systems in the retail sector.

Most recently, Martinez-Galindo served as the CIO of Walgreens, where he successfully led the company’s comprehensive transformation of its retail digital platform. Prior to that, he held various CIO positions at General Motors, gaining experience across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. His extensive background and expertise in driving business results and innovation in data analytics have earned him praise from Thomas Edwards, who believes that Martinez-Galindo’s experience will accelerate Capri Holdings’ ongoing digital and e-commerce evolution.

In response to his new appointment, Martinez-Galindo expressed his enthusiasm for joining Capri Holdings and contributing to the company’s digital innovation efforts. He sees a unique opportunity to enhance consumer engagement and improve the customer experience across all touchpoints by leveraging technology. Martinez-Galindo is honored to be part of Capri’s journey in achieving this mission.

Capri Holdings has been experiencing a significant increase in consumer engagement for its luxury brands, as evidenced by its better-than-expected third-quarter results reported last month. However, the company forecasts a loss for the current quarter due to store closures in Europe caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

With Martinez-Galindo joining its leadership team, Capri Holdings aims to strengthen its digital presence and capitalize on the growing trend of online retail. As the fashion industry continues to adapt to the changing market landscape, Martinez-Galindo’s expertise is expected to drive further growth and success for the luxury group.
