Canada Goose’s Expansion and Commitment to Local Manufacturing

Canada Goose continues to solidify its presence in the luxury outerwear market with the recent opening of its largest manufacturing facility in Winnipeg, Canada. Spanning an impressive 128,000 square feet, this state-of-the-art facility not only represents the company’s largest manufacturing site to date but also stands as the largest apparel manufacturing employer in the province of Manitoba. As part of their expansion plans, Canada Goose aims to hire over 700 new employees within the next three years, further solidifying their position as a major player in the cut and sew labor industry in Canada.

This latest addition to Canada Goose’s manufacturing operations is just one of seven wholly-owned facilities operated by the company. With three sites in Toronto, three in Winnipeg, and one in Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada Goose remains committed to producing a wide range of their iconic parkas and newer lightweight styles within Canadian borders. The grand opening of the Winnipeg facility was marked by a special visit from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who commended the brand for its dedication to keeping manufacturing local and creating valuable job opportunities for Canadians.

In addition to the launch of the new facility, Canada Goose also unveiled plans to enhance its sewing training school program within the Winnipeg operations. This initiative offers free sewing training to individuals, with the potential for securing full-time employment at Canada Goose upon successful completion of the program. By investing in skills development and creating pathways to meaningful work, Canada Goose demonstrates its ongoing commitment to fostering a robust manufacturing workforce in Canada.

Established in 1957 and headquartered in Toronto, Canada Goose has been experiencing rapid growth in its retail footprint. With flagship stores in prominent cities like London, New York, and Tokyo, the brand is set to open up to 20 additional stores worldwide by 2020. The upcoming store openings in Vancouver, Montreal, New Jersey, Beijing, and Hong Kong this fall further underscore Canada Goose’s global expansion strategy. In addition to brick-and-mortar stores, Canada Goose products are available through high-end retailers in over 38 countries and on their official website.

The inauguration of this cutting-edge manufacturing facility not only showcases Canada Goose’s unwavering dedication to producing top-quality goods locally but also underscores the brand’s commitment to fostering economic opportunities for Canadians. With a strong foothold in the retail market and a focus on sustainable growth, Canada Goose is poised to achieve even greater success on the global stage.
