Canada Goose Expands Manufacturing Operations in Quebec

Canada Goose, the iconic Toronto-based outerwear brand, has recently expanded its manufacturing operations by opening its eighth Canadian facility, the second in Quebec. The impressive new production site in Montreal spans 10,700 square meters and is set to employ around 100 people initially, with intentions to grow to 650 employees by the year’s end. This strategic move comes as Canada Goose continues to experience robust financial success, further establishing itself as a dominant force in the global outerwear market.

Established in 1997 by Dani Reiss, the grandson of Canada Goose’s original founder, Sam Tick, the brand has transformed into a globally recognized ready-to-wear label under his guidance. Renowned for its premium down jackets, Canada Goose has cultivated a devoted following around the world. The inauguration of the new manufacturing facility underscores the brand’s commitment to crafting top-quality apparel in its home country, while also bolstering the local economy.

In the third quarter of 2019, Canada Goose reported sales totaling CA$399.3 million (US$300.6 million), showcasing an impressive 50.2% growth compared to the previous year. This remarkable expansion has enabled the brand to enhance its retail footprint, with plans in place to inaugurate six new stores, including outlets in Paris and various Canadian cities. CEO Dani Reiss has highlighted the brand’s ongoing investment in community support and its dedication to generating fresh employment opportunities within the cut and sew sector.

In addition to its manufacturing presence in Quebec, Canada Goose operates factories in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the Greater Toronto Area. With its workforce already constituting 20% of Canada’s total apparel manufacturing workforce, the brand continues to make substantial contributions to the local economy while upholding its reputation for producing high-caliber garments. The brand’s persistent growth and commitment to domestic manufacturing echo its status as a significant contender in the international fashion realm.
